Captain Jack: Tell me about Maitland Ward.

Maitland Ward: I grew up in Long Beach, CA, an LA suburb. I had a very normal upbringing. I'm an only child, my parents are still together. I came from a good, solid background. I started acting when I was in high school. It was my 2^nd audition that I got the job at Bold and the Beautiful. My 1^st audition was for Saved By The Bell. I was in an acting workshop with a casting director, Christy Dooley. I liked soaps and started to get into professional acting. I was the youngest person in the workshop. She told me I should try out for the soap in the summer. I got into a contract role there and it was a really great experience. I was going to high school and doing the soap, which was the best of both worlds. I had these hunky boyfriends in their 20s and all the girls in school were jealous of me. I always loved performing.

CJ: You are also big into CosPlay! How did you get into that?

Maitland: I've always been a nerdy girl. When I was 3 ½ years, I was doing Star Wars in my front ward casting my dog as Chewbacca so I was always into that kind of stuff. I liked comics and Wonder Woman and all that. That was just in my past, something that I loved but I never really thought about making it something I do. I had been out of acting. I had moved to New York for a while. I went to school for screenwriting and just took a break from all of that. Then there was renewed interest when Girl Meets World, which came from Boy Meets World. The press was interested in all that. I said it was a possibility but I didn't want to be cast in a past role for the rest of my life. I started going to red carpet events because I would dress sexy and I'd do crazy getups. A photographer that I knew, he was on the red carpet of the Haunted House 2 and he said I should do May The Force Be With You. I would go to San Diego Comic Con and the actresses would dress up a little but it wasn't a lot. I had a real costume for Princess Leia. I did a photo shoot like that and it went viral. It went everywhere! And it was at the height of the Girl Meets World series. I realized people wanted to see me like that and it was fun for me and I started working with people to get different costumes and go to different Comic Cons and it really started catching on. It became a side career of something I really loved doing. And I would do it sexy. I would be on my social media doing all these sexy costumes and then I would be kicked off social media for showing too much. On Snapchat, if I showed anything, there were a few people totally against any kind of nudity. So eventually I got sick of it because I couldn't express myself. I wasn't in the adult world at all. The only thing I had done was a photo shoot with a Elle Alexandra for International Kiss A Ginger Day. Somebody said they knew her and we had a great time and that went a lot of places too. So that was the only experience in adult that I had. So I started a Patreon page just to see what kind of interest there was and it blew up overnight. It was insane. For 2018, I was the #1 adult performer page, adult under their qualifications. They turned a blind eye to me once I started doing videos. Then I just started branching out a bit. Through Elle, I knew Sovereign Syre. She introduced me to a few people like Lily Love. So I started doing girl/girl stuff to ease into it. Then I started doing boy/girl with Danny Mountain and Isiah Maxwell. Then it evolved. It was just something I really loved and felt passionate about. It brought it out of me and I'm thankful for that journey to show me who I could be as a performer and artist. I want to merge everything.

CJ: I know about Comic Con in San Diego. How many other conventions like that are there?

Maitland: Hundreds and hundreds. Every major city has one. A lot of little cities have them too. I go to the bigger ones that I enjoy.

CJ: How hard was it for you coming from the mainstream acting world to do an adult video?

Maitland: Surprisingly, it wasn't difficult. There was something inside of me that I felt comfortable with. I was really lucky with those guys. Both of them have held my hand a lot throughout the process. I was sitting and thinking when I was doing a solo shoot. It was weird to think, I'm totally masturbating in front of 5 or 6 guys and I'm totally ok with it. Most people would be freaked out. I'm kind of an exhibitionist at heart too.

CJ: You've been acting in mainstream for a long time and you hear about the Harvey Weinsteins and Les Moonves incidents, is it more hazardous for a woman in mainstream than it is in porn?

Maitland: Personally, I never had a problem with a producer or director doing anything to me so I've been fortunate and can't really speak on that. But there are way more sleazier people in mainstream than I have encountered in porn. There are just so many producers and actors. There have been situations in mainstream that have just been horrific. The fact that porn gets a bad name is ridiculous. There are a lot of bad situations in mainstream. I'm fortunate that I didn't have that in the casting couch situation ever. But I know a lot of girls that have. In mainstream, they just try to cover it up and protect their images but there are a lot of sleazy people.

CJ: Were you very sexual as a teen? When did you lose your virginity?

Maitland: No, I was not sexual as a teen. I lost it as a teen but it was a typical boyfriend. I was not somebody who was comfortable in exploring. I was shy. I've evolved over time. I was a good girls.

CJ: I've talked to a lot of girls doing these interviews, did you ever have a slutty phase?

Maitland: I think as I got older, I definitely explored different situations and different people. Just drink it all up, so to speak. I think it's an evolution. Once my interest peaked, I wanted more! (laughs)
