Young Woman's Descent into a Virtual World of Desire Becky could not wait to design her character and see how close the game would make it look like her. She had bought and downloaded the new interactive game everyone was talking about called, "Horrorween". The difference in this game compared to all the others was the technology to make a character look, act and sound like you. Once you filled out the in depth personal profile, the system uses your webcam image and movement, as well as your microphone to complete the design. You do not have to have a webcam or microphone, but the player won't have the character look like them. Why buy the game if you do not want that part of it, Becky thought. She loved to play games where you interact with others, and this one seemed special. The game allowed you to dress in your own clothes or use the over 22 million Halloween costume combinations in the database. The game was set in Halloween, and whether you wanted to go to a costume ball, trick or treat, visit a haunted house, fight legends like Jason, Freddy or Michael Myers or just stake vampires and get turned into a werewolf you get to choose. Because of the violent nature of the game, it was a for mature audiences only. That kept the kids from running amok and ruining the atmosphere like the other popular games. You can also meet up with friends and communicate with them in real time using the microphone feature. Becky was totally stoked. She couldn't believe how long the personal profile was and how many stupid questions she had to answer, but she guessed that all the information would be used to make the game more realistic. She just wondered why she had to tell about her favorite food and whether she liked dogs or cats more. It was a bit overkill she thought. Anyway, Becky was ready for the next stage and that was the visual and voice part of her character. As soon as she put on her headphones she was instructed to speak only when spoken too, answer the questions asked in a simple precise manner, and make sure there would be no interruptions in the setup. …the next moment changed everything
